Netbook Sales on the Rise, Customize Yours With a Custom Skin from MyTego.com

April 29, 2009 by mytegoinc

MyTego.com is adding Netbook templates to their already extensive device selection online.  Netbook sales are on the rise stealing a 7 percent share of the global laptop market in their first year and this number is expected to rise to 12 percent for their second year.  While these small laptops were originally designed as a cheap alternative to a laptop for lower income families, they have become immensely popular among businesspeople as they are lighter and much easier to carry around than a standard laptop.

Netbooks are used mostly for online activities, basic word processing and other simple activities.  They are not used for storing large amounts of data but rather for accessing documents and pictures that have been saved online.  Netbooks generally have screen sizes between 6 and 10 inches and weigh between 2 and 3 pounds.  Most of these mini laptops sell for a price between $300 and $600, and sales in Europe have been 8 times the sales in the United States.  One of the more popular Netbooks is the Acer Aspire One weighing in at just over 2 pounds.

MyTego is now adding many different Netbook templates so customers can design custom vinyl Tego skins for their mini laptops.  Tego skins are low-profile, protective skins that are designed specifically by each individual customer.  Tego skins go on easy and come off clean so that they will not ruin the customer’s device and also allow customers to keep up to date with fast-changing trends.  The device will remain fully functional with specific cutouts for screens, buttons and cut lines leaving full access to the battery.  Prices start at $13, including shipping, for cell phone skins and $28 for laptop skins.  MyTego also has skins for game consoles, such as the Sony PlayStation 3, or other gadgets like the Amazon Kindle and most other portable electronic gadgets and devices.  Orders are usually printed within 5 days of placing the order, sometimes within 48 hours, and shipping times range from a couple days to a couple weeks, depending on what the customer chooses.  Rush shipping is available on all orders for an extra cost.

MyTego has a number of netbooks on their website already and will continue to add more as more models are released.  If a customer does not see their netbook on the site, they can email MyTego from their website to request the device.  The following is a list of netbooks that are currently on the site:

·         Dell Inspiron Mini 9

·         LG x110

·         MSI Wind

·         Acer Aspire One

·         HP Mini 1000

·         Asus Eee PC 700-701-702

MyTego.com is based out of Winnipeg, Canada and has licensed operations in Europe.  Tego skins are designed using a unique, patented online design studio that operates in seven different languages.  Products are distributed worldwide making MyTego a world leader in innovative, on-demand, mass customization.  They have developed a complete patented production system that allows for individual manufacturing with infinite customer choices, with similar economies of traditional mass production, where the customer receives very little, or no opportunity, for customization and personalization.  MyTego.com provides customers with the tools to create a one-of-a-kind Tego skin that shows off the customer’s inherent desire to style their own world.

MyTego.com: Mass Customization or Just-in-Time Manufacturing?

April 27, 2009 by mytegoinc

MyTego.com has close to 3000 devices on their websites that customers can customize with an infinite number of design possibilities.  When you combine the expansive list of available devices with infinite design opportunities, you have captured the true essence of mass customization.  MyTego.com produces customer-made vinyl skins for portable electronic devices of all kinds.

Tego skins are low-profile custom-designed vinyl skins that both protect and personalize portable electronic devices.  Tego skins go on easy and come off clean so consumers can keep up to date with fast changing trends.  Skins can be personalized for all portable electronics including the Apple iPhone, all BlackBerry, Samsung, Nokia and LG cell phone models, video game systems, and much more.  Tego skins cover the majority of the device while leaving full access to the device’s battery and specific cutouts for buttons, screens and sensors.

MyTego.com has successfully implemented a mass customization technique where they are able to produce large quantities of skins each with a unique image, as designed by the customer, matched with the specific template for their phone.  Each skin is manufactured individually to the exact specifications of the customer.  MyTego has also implemented some of the aspects of just-in-time manufacturing such as cutting down on inventory, the ability to produce small lot sizes, and very short setup times.  However, MyTego still does not consider themselves to be JIT manufacturers because JIT is most often applied to businesses that produce large quantities of the same product and this is far from the central concept of MyTego, mass customization.  If there are any identical orders, it is a coincidence that two customers ordered the exact same image and they have the exact same devices.  Aside from that occurrence, each Tego skin is designed by the customer and produced on-demand customized to the customers’ needs.

The following is a list of the Top 50 Devices that customers are actually ordering custom Tego skins for, according to www.MyTego.com.  The Top 50 represents only a small portion of the almost 3000 available devices on the website.

MyTEGO.com Ready for the Booming Nintendo DSi Sales

April 16, 2009 by mytegoinc

The Nintendo DSi has been available in North America for more than a week now.  The first release of the Nintendo DSi was in Japan before Christmas of 2008 and reports say that over 170,000 units were sold within two days.  Early this April, the DSi was released in both the United States as well as the United Kingdom.  Nintendo announced that they sold 300,000 units in the US and another 300,000 in the UK over their launch weekend.  MyTEGO.com picked up the white version of the Nintendo Dsi when it was first released in Japan a couple months ago.  They released the online template for the DSi two months ago so customers could start designing the skin for the much talked about Nintendo DSi and order their custom skins in advance.  If you did not order your skin before you bought the device, it is not too late.  The Nintendo DSi was released in Europe on April 3, 2009 and released in North American on April 5, 2009.  It has very limited color choice.  You can order either blue or black in North America or you can order a Japanese version in white.  Tego skins, however, come in all colors, styles, and designs limited only by your imagination.  All consumers can now pimp out their Nintendo DSi with a hot Tego skin from www.MyTego.com.

The Nintendo DSi offers gamers the ability to customize the game system internally with expanded internal memory but MyTEGO offers a customization option for the external look and feel of the portable system.  If you have already picked up your portable DSi, you are probably noticing that your system blends in with all the other systems that consumers have purchased.  Not everyone plays all the same games, why should their Nintendo DSi’s look the same as everyone else’s? Tego skins show off the customer’s inherent desire to have the power to personalize their own world with their own style.  It is becoming mainstream to personalize electronic devices from cell phones, Blackberries and laptops, to calculators, game systems, MP3 players, iPods, satellite radios and much more.  Customers can create a Tego skin using images from the extensive online MyTEGO catalog, or they can upload pictures from their computer or digital camera.  Tego Skins from www.MyTego.com are precision cut and cover the majority of the device.  The device remains fully functional with specific cut-outs for screens, buttons, keys, as well as cutouts allowing access to the device’s battery.  Tego skins go on easy and come off clean so they can be easily and frequently replaced to remain up to date with fast changing trends.  Each one is then manufactured individually to the specifications of the customer and ships them direct.  To see pictures of the Nintendo DSi with custom MyTEGO skins, check out their Flickr web page.

MyTego.com and The Long Tail Niche Strategy

April 15, 2009 by mytegoinc

Tego skins are precision cut, protective vinyl stick-ons that go on easy and come off clean to give your personal electronic devices a unique look.

Tego skins are precision cut, protective vinyl stick-ons that go on easy and come off clean to give your personal electronic devices a unique look.

MyTego.com has almost 3000 different devices on their website for which customers can create custom skins for all of their portable electronic devices.  While MyTego offers such an extensive variety of gadgets, there are still many sites online that do not offer as many choices and also offer fewer customization choices.  MyTego has stepped ahead of the curve by targeting what has been called The Long Tail market by providing the opportunity to custom design a Tego skin for any and all portable electronic devices.

The Long Tail niche strategy was first described by Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief of Wired magazine.  Anderson first wrote about The Long Tail idea in an article for the magazine, and later developed it into a book entitled The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More.  In this book, he discusses the importance of selling few quantities of many different unique items.  MyTego has accomplished this by making all portable electronics available on their website rather than just the most popular devices.  While the more popular items, such as the Apple iPhones, Apple iPods or the different BlackBerry models, sell much more frequently, Anderson argued that some of the less common items, such as the less popular Samsung models and Sanyo cell phones, can contribute just as significantly to a company’s profits in the long run.  Making these less popular models available will attract the niche market described in the Long Tail theory.  MyTego offers all of these products at the same price, regardless of how popular or unpopular the device is.  Prices start at $10 for cell phones and mp3 players, $25 for laptops, and $20 for console game systems.

MyTego.com Expands Their Online Template Database for New Custom Skins for Consumer Electronics

April 14, 2009 by mytegoinc

MyTego.com is constantly bringing new portable electronic device templates to their unique online TEGOTM creation “engine”. These new devices represent some of the latest offerings in technology from the world’s largest consumer electronics manufacturers.  When new devices are launched, MyTego will create a template, or pattern, for each device and make it available on their website at www.MyTego.com.  Customers can then browse the MyTego template library to find the pattern for their device and proceed to design and create a unique TEGOTM skin with their own pictures, designs, graphics, etc. for their specific device.  MyTego then manufactures each TEGOTM skin individually according to the specifications of the customer.

Tego skins are customer designed vinyl “stick-ons” that go on easy and come off clean. Each Tego skin is created exclusively by the customer through MyTego’s unique creative interface, only available online at www.MyTego.com. The interface allows all customers to select from a multitude of devices and utilize either an image of their own, or select from hundreds of images in the MyTego online catalog.  Prices start at $13, including shipping and handling for single face cell phones and $28 for laptop skins.  Customers can upgrade all orders to rush shipping for an additional cost and MyTEGO’s customer service guarantee will ensure that no customer will be left dissatisfied with their product.  Because each skin is manufactured individually to the exact specifications of the customer, total average order time is generally around two to three weeks.  Production takes less than 7 days, and sometimes occurs within 48 hours of ordering, and shipping can range from 3 days up to 2 weeks depending on the selection of the consumer.

For the first time ever, MyTEGO.com has created templates so customers can custom design Tego skins for the palm rest of their laptop.  This is only available for all sizes of the Apple MacBook Aluminum thus far but is a trend that will continue for other laptop models.  The new BlackBerry Curve 8900, which in some areas is referred to as the BlackBerry Javelin, has also been added to the list of BlackBerry models available at www.MyTego.com.  Another cool phone that has been added is the HTC G1 Google phone, which made the TIMES Magazine Best Gadgets of 2008.  Its advanced technology lets you search using Google with one touch on the screen to explore the web with your voice instead of the keyboard using the Google search by voice feature.  The new consumer electronic devices available for online customization of Tego skins as of April 2009 are:

·       Acer Extensa Series 14 inch

·       Apple MacBook Aluminum 13 inch

Based upon customer feedback, MyTego is also continually updating current portable electronic device templates for TEGO skins. This is to ensure that the skins that are designed are as accurate as possible, and create the best coverage for personal skin designs, and overall best skin value.  Customers requested that the Apple iPod Nano 2008 have the option to buy just one skin rather than having both sides of the mp3 player come as one skin and so MyTego has done it, the iPod Nano 2008 now comes as two separate skins to give consumers more choice in customization and personalization.

The consumer electronic device templates that have been updated as of April 2009 are:

·         Apple iPod iStation

·         Apple iPod Nano 2008

·         Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch

MyTego.com continually adds new device templates and currently has over 3000 templates for worldwide consumer electronics on their website at www.MyTEGO.com.  These templates are available for customers to then create their own unique TEGOTM skins online.  Such devices include skins for laptops, mobile and cell phones, iPods, and MP3 players, satellite radios, game consoles, portable game sytems etc.  All major brands such as Apple, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Texas Instrument, Garmin, Guitar Hero, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, LG, RIM and more can also have Tego skins made for them.  Requests for new devices to the website, or feedback for current device templates can be sent to feedback@mytego.com.

MyTego.com is based out of Winnipeg, Canada and has licensed operations in Europe. Worldwide distribution of TEGO™ skins is accomplished through a unique, patented online design studio that operates in more than 7 languages. MyTego.com is a world leader in innovative, on-demand, mass-customization and has developed a complete patented production system that allows for individual manufacturing with infinite customer choices, with similar economies of traditional mass-production manufacturing.
